Google paid $25 million for the .app domain

When you’re sitting on a giant pile of ad dollars you can pretty much buy whatever you want. Today Google is buying the .app top domain.
Business Insider reports that the search giant won anICANN (the organization that controls internet domains) auction for the top level domain. Google currently owns .soy, .minna, .foo and .how.
The company has no immediate plans for the .app domain, but it’s pretty easy to figure where it fits into their business.
