LG aims for the mid-range smartphone segment with four new Android Lollipop devices

LG has announced a new line of mid-range smartphones running Android Lollipop that will be showcased at this year’s Mobile World Congresstrade show in Barcelona. The company aims to offer a balance of style and performance with its latest range, and it looks like it might get things right in 2015.
The LG Magna, Spirit, Leon and Joy will be available in 3G and 4G LTE variants, with metallic back covers to distinguish the latter models.

The Magna features a 5-inch 720p display, and includes an 8-megapixel rear camera and 5-megapixel front camera. It’s powered by a quad-core 1.2GHz chipset with 8GB of storage and 1GB of RAM. That should be enough for most common tasks and light gaming.
The other models are similarly specced, but differ in screen size. The Spirit is a 4.7-inch affair, while the Leon is slightly smaller with its 4.5-inch display, and the Joy features a diminutive (by today’s standards) 4-inch screen.
The range includes signature LG features like hand gesture-activated selfies, and Glance View, which displays time, recent messages and missed calls with a swipe even while the display is off.
There’s no word on pricing or availability just yet, but LG says that it will begin to roll out these models across the globe in select markets this week.

Top 5 best Android phones

1) Sony Xperia Z3

The best flagship Android smartphone to buy today. The Sony Xperia Z3 impressed us with its top of the line performance, rugged yet premium build quality and advanced imaging capabilities. Sony Xperia Z3 has the brightest screen of all smartphones available in the market. The Z3 came very close to being the top Android smartphone to buy in India, if only Sony had priced the Xperia Z3 more sensibly.

2) Motorola Moto X 2ng Gen 32GB

The 32GB version of Motorola Moto X 2nd gen is the best Android smartphone recommendation for pure/stock Android fans. It already has the latest Android Lollipop update, offers a super-sharp 1080p AMOLED display and a host of gesture and voice based special features that makes it a lot more smarter than the rest of the premium Android smartphones. And, its competitive pricing makes it an excellent deal!

3) Google Nexus 6 by Motorola

The Google Nexus 6 stands for the best Android experience on a smartphone. And while the Nexus 6 is a beast of a phone (literally), with a massive 6-inch screen. If you are fine with a large & heavy device, the benefits of the Nexus 6 in terms of performance, Android updates, a stellar camera with optical image stabilization and excellent battery life are impossible to ignore. We suggest you get your hands on the Nexus 6 to experience the size and overall dimensions before taking s decision. If you can manage its weight and size, the Nexus 6 is the best Android phone to buy and a very valid alternative to the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 if the stylus input isn't something that you find useful.

4) Samsung Galaxy Note 4

The Samsung Galaxy Note 4 is currently Samsung's best Android phone offering in India. While it falls under the big-screen smartphones category, blurring the lines between smartphones and tablets, it does manage to offer the best feature set, performance and some very unique benefits. The Note 4 has the best stylus implementation of all smartphones in the world today.

Meizu Expected To Announce First Ubuntu-Powered Smartphone By January-End

Meizu is all set with their new releases for January-end. They will announce three new devices by the end of this month. A Weibo account called ChinaUbuntu leaked the news and it showed a teaser too, which featured some text which was incomprehensible too.

The leaked image is as shown below. The text on it is translated as “3 Happiness”. It indicates that three devices will be announced from the Chinese smartphone maker. Keeping aside all the other smartphones, what is most exciting is the first Ubuntu-powered smartphone from Meizu, which is expected to be launched in this lot only.

The image is also related to Ubuntu and some more images have also been leaked which hint at Meizu MX4 based on Ubuntu software. If the launch happens finally, this will be the first time Ubuntu will be entering the smartphone market. Unfortunately, the KickStarter campaign for the smartphone was a failure as it couldn't reach its funding target. Meizu has not announced anything officially though. So we have to wait for some more time when Meizu releases the official teaser on their own.
